How to Enable Marketing Consent (GDPR)
If you're selling to customers in the EU or UK — or simply want to follow best practices for email marketing — you can now collect marketing consent on checkout pages or lead magnets. This feature is optional, but recommended if you have a global audience or want to comply with GDPR standards 🌎
How Marketing Consent Works
When you enable Marketing Consent, customers will see an optional checkbox below the email entry field: "I agree to receive marketing emails."
This lets them decide if they want to receive marketing emails from you. Whether or not they check the box, they can still complete their purchase or download — nothing gets blocked!
Here’s what happens next:
- ✅ If they check the box, they’ll be marked as Subscribed and will automatically be added to your email marketing list.
- 🚫 If they don't check the box, they’ll complete the purchase and be marked as Requires Opt-in. You can still send them a one-time Opt-in email. If they confirm, they’ll move to Subscribed.
How to Enable Marketing Consent
- Go to your Settings tab.
- Click on the Payments tab.
- Toggle on Marketing Consent.
That’s it! A checkbox will now appear wherever you collect emails ✅
Where You Can See Consent Status
Once Marketing Consent is enabled, you’ll be able to see whether a customer is marked as Subscribed or Requires Opt-in in two different places:
1️⃣ Recipients Tab
From the Email Flows tab, click Recipients, and filter by Status.
2️⃣ CSV File
From your Customers tab, click the three dots on the top right, then select Download CSV. The file will include a subscription status
column so you can filter or sort as needed.
Integrations via Zapier
If you use Zapier to connect to your external email platform, you’ll now see each new customer’s subscription status, so you can set up automations based on whether they gave consent 🙌
