How to Create Categories in Community

Want to organize your Community for your members to have different conversations? Now you can! This article will show you how to create and manage categories in your Community!


How to Create Categories

  1. Select + Manage from the home page of your Community

  1. Select Add Category

  1. Enter the name of your category and click Save

  1. To navigate to your new category, select the new tab below the post entry field



Making Posts in Your Categories

When you make a post in your category you must choose the correct category from the category dropdown before you post. All posts will be visible in both the main feed and the category!

🚨 Please Note!

Your Community members will also need to select the appropriate category before they post in a category!


Editing and Deleting Categories

Here's how you can manage your existing categories:

  1. Select + Manage

  1. Click the 3 dots dropdown menu and choose the appropriate option

📣 Heads Up!

Deleting a category will not delete all posts in that category. Instead, posts from a deleted category will appear solely in the main feed under All!


Can I create categories on my Resources and Products pages?

As of right now, we do not have the ability to create folders or categories for products or resources. This is added to our list of feature requests!
