How to Import Your Existing Email List into Stan
Creator Pro Feature✨
This feature is only available on the Creator Pro plan.
If you have an existing email list that you've built, you have the ability to potentially import it into Stan. All you need to do is format it with the correct first row (the headers) and save as a CSV file matching the sample below.
🚨 Please note: The First Name or Last Names fields need to be populated with a name, word, etc. in order for the import to be successful. Any contacts that only have an email address will not be imported.
Steps on How to Import Your List
- To import your list, first visit the Customers tab, then click Add Contacts.
- You can enter in one contact at a time by filling out the fields and then clicking Add Contact or you can upload a list of your own.
- Once you upload a list, you can tag it! Once you're done typing the tag, make sure to press enter, so it's highlighted in purple. You'll be able to find these contacts in you Customers tab!
- Make your way to Email Flows > Recipients to send an opt-in email to all contacts on your list.
FAQ
Q: Why do I need to submit a request to import my list?
A: Our goal is to protect the sending reputation and deliverability of our platform, so all creators can have access to the Email Flows feature. In order to do that, we need to individually review imported contact lists to ensure that they're up-to-date and healthy!
Q: What can I do to ensure I have a healthy contact list?
A: You'll want to import contacts into Stan who've consistently opened your emails within the past couple of months. If your list is composed of inactive email addresses or subscribers who are no longer engaged, it can hurt your email deliverability. You want to send emails to customers who want to continue hearing from you!
Q: What is Email Deliverability and why does it matter?
A: Email deliverability is the rate at which emails reach an inbox. This is crucial for creators because it determines whether your emails are successfully reaching your customers. To maintain a high deliverability rate or address any drop in inbox placements, here are some strategies you can follow to improve the chances of your emails being delivered to the intended recipients.
Q: Which file formats are accepted?
A: Currently we are only able to support CSV files.
Q: Can I add tags to my contacts?
A: Yes! You can add a tag to your contacts in two ways -
If you want to manually add tags 1 by 1, go to your Customers tab, click on any customer and then select the Edit Customer button and start typing in the name of the tag you want to add.
- If you want to add a tag in bulk, you will be given the option to do so once you upload your CSV file. Just be sure to add the tag before you click the Confirm button!
Q: Can I delete my contacts?
A: No, you cannot delete contacts right now so we recommend tagging your contacts once you've added the tag, go ahead and create your Email Broadcast and toggle on the Exclude Users toggle and then select the tag that you created to exclude those users from receiving the emails!
