Stan, Stripe, and PayPal transaction fees

One of our values at Stan is being Creator-first. One way we embody this is by not taking a cut of your hard-earned income. Stan earns 0% from transactions made on the platform—you'll only pay a flat subscription fee. Our payment processors, PayPal and Stripe, have their own processing fees, which we'll explain in this article. 💸

Stripe fees by country

🇺🇸 United States

• Standard purchase fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
• Afterpay fee: 6.0% + $0.30 per transaction
• Klarna fee: 5.99% + $0.30 per transaction
• International customer fee: +1.5% if your customer is in a different country
• Payout fee: 0.25% + $0.25 per payout (min. $1) — (+1% when you sell a product in a currency different from the Stripe account's currency)

🇨🇦 Canada

• Standard purchase fee: 2.9% + $.30 per transaction
• Afterpay fee: 6.0% + $.30 per transaction
• Klarna fee: 6.0% + $.30 per transaction
• International customer fee: +0.8% if your customer is in a different country
• Payout fee: 25% + $.25 per payout (min. $1) — (+2% when you sell a product in a currency different from the Stripe account's currency)

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

• Standard purchase fee: 1.5% + £0.20 per transaction
• Afterpay fee: 6.0% + £.30 per transaction
• Klarna fee: 4.99% + £.35 p
• International customer fee: +1.75% if your customer is in a different country
• Payout fee: .25% + £.25 per payout (min. £1) — (+2% when you sell a product in a currency different from the Stripe account's currency)

🇦🇺 Australia

• Standard purchase fee: 1.75% + A$0.30 per transaction
• Afterpay fee: 6.0% + A$0.30 per transaction
• Klarna fee: 4.99% + A$0.55 per transaction
• International customer fee: +1.75% if your customer is in a different country
• Payout fee: .25% + A$.25 per payout (min. A$1) — (+2% when you sell a product in a currency different from the Stripe account's currency)

🇳🇿 New Zealand

• Standard purchase fee: 2.7% + NZ$0.30 per transaction
• Afterpay fee: 6.0% + NZ$0.30 per transaction
• Klarna fee: 4.99% + NZ$0.65 per transaction
• International customer fee: +1% if your customer is in a different country
• Payout fee: 25% + NZ$.25 per payout (min. NZ$1) — (+2% when you sell a product in a currency different from the Stripe account's currency)

🌍 Other countries

• Standard purchase fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
• Afterpay fee: 6.0% + $0.30 per transaction
• Klarna fee: 6.0% + $0.30 per transaction
• International customer fee: +1.75% if your customer is in a different country

Stripe's transaction fees may vary based on your location and the purchaser's location. Additional fees may occur, including the following:

• International cards: +1.5%
• Currency conversion: +1%
• Recurring payments: +0.5%

How to view your Stripe fee breakdown inside Stan

1. Go to your Income tab in Stan
2. Click on the order you want to review
3. Hover over the (?) icon next to the payout amount to see a full breakdown of the fees

Stripe fees and refunds

When you issue a refund, you're refunding the entire amount the customer paid, not just your net earnings. This includes the Stripe fees, which Stripe does not refund to you.

For example:

• Say you sell a product for $50
• Stripe takes $2 in fees
• You earn $48 in revenue
• If you refund the customer, $50 will be deducted from your balance — not just the $48.

PayPal's transaction fees

If your customer pays via PayPal, the standard PayPal fees apply:
