How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)


Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second verification step after your password. This guide walks you through enabling 2FA using a mobile authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator or password managers e.g 1Password).


Using an Authenticator App

📱 Step 1: Download an Authenticator App

Download and install an authenticator app on your smartphone if you haven’t already:


👤 Step 2: Sign in to Your Account

  1. Log in to your Stan store.
  2. Go to Settings and click on the Security tab.
  3. Toggle Two-Step Verification.



🔧 Step 3: Start the 2FA Setup

  1. Choose the option to use Code from authenticator.
  2. A QR code will appear on the screen.
  3. Enter a name you would like to use to remember which authenticator app you will use to scan this code. This will help you remember where you need to get a code from in the future!




📷 Step 4a: Scan the QR Code

⚠️ These steps may vary based on the app you downloaded/installed. The following steps are generalized.

  1. Open your authenticator app on your phone.
  2. Tap the + or Add Account button.
  3. Select Scan a QR code.
  4. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on the website.

🚫📷 Step 4b: I can’t scan the code

  1. Click on Can’t scan code? A new modal appears.
  2. Enter a name you would like to use to remember which authenticator app where you will enter the setup key. This will help you remember where you need to get a code from in the future!

⚠️ These steps may vary based on the app you downloaded/installed. The following steps are generalized.

  1. Open your authenticator app on your phone.
  2. Tap the + or Add Account button.
  3. Select Enter a setup key.
  4. Type or Paste in the setup key into the authenticator app.

🔢 Step 5: Enter the Verification Code

  1. After scanning or entering the setup key, your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code.
  2. Click Continue on the modal and enter the code from your authenticator app as prompted.
  3. Click Continue.


✅ Step 6: Save Your Backup Codes (Optional but Recommended)

We’ll provide a backup code in case you lose access to your authenticator app. Download, copy, or print these and store them somewhere safe.

  1. After saving the code, click I’ve saved them


🎉 You're All Set!

Your account is now protected with Two-Factor Authentication. The next time you log in, you’ll be prompted to enter a code from your authenticator app after entering your password.
