Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my customer cannot complete the remainder of their payments?

When a customer selects a payment plan, their payment method (like a credit card) is stored on file. If a payment fails due to an expired card or insufficient funds, we’ll automatically send them a reminder email asking them to update their payment method.

However, if the customer chooses not to complete their remaining payments, those funds are considered lost and likely won’t be recovered. If you’d prefer guaranteed payments, we recommend using AfterPay or Klarna.

Are there any additional fees associated with the Stan Payment Plan?

No, this feature included in our Creator Pro Plan at no additional cost! In regards to fees, the usual Stripe fees will apply.

Can customers in other countries use Stan Payment Plans?

Yes! Stan Payment Plans are available to customers worldwide — there are no location-based restrictions. This means you can offer flexible payment options to your entire audience, no matter where they’re located.

Are there any consequences for customers who don’t complete their payment plan?

The Stan Payment Plan feature was designed to give your customers more flexibility — especially those outside your country who might otherwise face purchasing limitations. However, the tradeoff is that as the Creator, you take on more risk. If you'd prefer more protection or guaranteed payments, we recommend using AfterPay or Klarna.

Can a customer cancel their payments after choosing the Stan Payment Plan?

No — customers are not able to cancel their payment plan on their own. They can update their payment method if needed, but cannot stop or cancel future payments themselves. If their card is declined or expires, future payments may fail. In those cases, we’ll automatically send reminder emails prompting the customer to update their payment details.

If a customer can't fulfill their payments, what happens to their product access?

If the product is a course, you'll need to manually Revoke Access. If the product is a Digital Download, access cannot be revoked. If the product is a Community, they will automatically be removed if their payment fails.

What happens if I change the Payment Plan for a product that’s already live?

Any customers who purchased under the original Payment Plan won’t be affected. For example, if you originally set up a 3-month plan and later change it to 4 months, customers who bought the product while it was on the 3-month plan will stay on that schedule.

If I disable a Payment Plan for a product, what happens to customers already on a plan?

Nothing changes! Any customers who are already enrolled in a Payment Plan will continue on their original schedule. Disabling or editing the Payment Plan for a product won’t impact existing customers who’ve already opted in.

I’m on Creator Pro and want to downgrade, but I have a customer on a Payment Plan — what happens?

No worries, nothing changes! If a customer is already on a Payment Plan, they’ll stay on it and continue making their scheduled payments, even if you downgrade your subscription.

Can I disable Afterpay and Klarna?

If you're on Creator Pro, Afterpay and Klarna are defaulted payment options at checkout and cannot be removed from within your dashboard. If you'd like to disable Afterpay and Klarna, please reach out to friends@stanwith.me and we can take care of this for you on the backend!
