How to Migrate Your Community to Stan

Do you have an existing Community hosted on another platform that you'd like to move to Stan? No problem!

There are two ways you can migrate your Community over to Stan depending on if you are on the Creator or Creator Pro plan. This article explores both options so you can bring your audience over and get your Community started! πŸŽ‰


Creator Pro Plan: Manually Import Your Email list

This feature is only available on the Creator Pro plan.

If you have a CSV file of your existing Community, all you need to do is format it with the correct first row (the headers) and save as a CSV file matching the sample below.

🚨 Please note: The First Name or Last Names fields need to be populated with a name, word, etc. in order for the import to be successful. Any contacts that only have an email address will not be imported.

Here are the steps to import your CSV for Community:

  1. Navigate to your Customers tab and select Add Contacts

  1. Select Upload and choose the CSV file

  1. Create a unique tag for these contacts so you can find them later and select Confirm

  1. Make your way to Email Flows > Recipients to send an Opt-In email to all contacts on your list.

  1. Customize your Opt-In email to let your community know that you're moving over to Stan!

  1. Once your Community has opted-in to receiving your emails, you can head to the Customers tab and filter for the tag you created

  1. Select the 3 dots in the top right corner of the page and choose Grant Product Access

  1. Choose your Community from the dropdown and select Grant Product Access.

  1. After you Grant Product Access, your customers will receive the email invitation!

🚨 Please Note!

Any customer you see listed on the Customers tab when you Grant Product Access will be sent an invitation to your Community! Please make sure that you double check to make sure you are only granting access to the intended customers.


Creator Plan: Create a Product and Integrate Your Community

Since you are not able to import contacts to your Stan Store on the Creator plan, you can either send your Community product link by selecting the 3 dots to the right of the product in your My Store tab and choosing Copy URL...

...or you can create a private Digital Download Product to send a free version of your Community to your loyal existing audience! Here's how:

  1. Go to the My Store tab, navigate to Landing Pages, and select +Add Landing Page

  1. Choose Digital Download Product
  2. Customize your product to let your audience know that this is exclusive access to your Community, set the price to $0, and upload a flyer for your community (or link back to your store) as the product file

  1. Navigate to the Options tab and select the Community Integration dropdown menu, and toggle on Invite Customers to My Community

  1. Once you've toggled the setting on, any customer who purchases this product will also receive an email invitation to Community that looks like this:

  1. Publish the product and head back to your Landing Pages tab in My Store
  2. Select the 3 dots to the right of your new product and choose Copy URL

  1. Send the link to your community and watch the members fly in!

πŸ’­ Food for Thought!

Creating this product as a private landing page allows you to offer a free Community subscription to your existing audience while still charging for the product in your Store!

You can absolutely send your Community the product link to sign up if you'd like to charge, but this can be a cool option to reward your early followers!
