How to Create a Recurring Membership Product

A recurring membership product on Stan gives you the ability to charge your customers on a recurring basis, either daily, weekly, monthly or annually!

Many Stan Creators use this functionality to charge customers for their ongoing newsletters, coaching packages, or more.

Steps to Create a Recurring Membership Product

1. Head over to your My Store, then select the purple button Add Product

  1. Next, select the Recurring Membership product

Editing the Thumbnail

  1. Next, you'll have the opportunity to edit the thumbnail of the button that will display on your storefront. You can edit the Style, Image, and Text of the thumbnail like below!

Editing the Checkout/Landing Page

  1. Next, its time to edit the Checkout Page! Choose an image for the header, and write up a title and description for your checkout/landing page! This is what your customers will see when they click into the actual product!

Setting Up Your Membership Pricing

  1. The most important step - setting the price of your membership!
  2. Price ($) = the amount that you would like your customers to be charged each time

Discounted Price ($) = when toggled on, this will discount the amount you are charging

Recurring * = the cadence of which your customers will be charged (daily, weekly, monthly, or annually)

Cancel subscription after = when left off, your customers will continue to be charged indefinitely until they choose to cancel. When toggled on, this will allow you to set an "end date" to your subscription.

For example, if you'd like to charge your customers on a monthly basis, for a total of 6 months. Then you would set the Recurring * to Monthly and the Cancel subscription after to 6 months like below:

Heads up!

Finalizing Your Options

  1. Edit your Confirmation Email. This is what your customers will receive once they'd purchased and booked the call with you.

Recurring Memberships Ideas

  • Monthly group coaching calls
  • Membership Community access
  • Online training videos
  • Weekly or monthly texts/ emails
  • Access to digital products, such as eBooks or guides
  • A combination of all of these options!

Recurring Membership Payment Types

The customer will be charged automatically at the beginning of each billing cycle. The billing cycle is dependent on when they purchased the membership and can be set up in a lot of different ways (i.e. weekly monthly). For example, if a customer purchased your membership on Feb. 15 and you've sent a monthly billing cycle, they'll be charged the 15th of every month.

You will be able to select between the following payment recurring increments:

  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Annually

You can also set a duration or auto-cancellation date for your memberships. For example, you can set the membership to cancel after X months and your customers will no longer be charged.

The customer will also receive a payment confirmation email when they've been charged where they will have the option to update their payment method or to cancel their membership.

Where to Locate Your Members

  1. Go to the Audience tab in the left hand side.
  2. In the filters, click on Active Subscription and choose which of your subscriptions you want to see. This should show a list with all of your active members!

Success Tip

Whenever someone joins your membership, automatically add them to your exclusive email list (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Flodesk, etc) using Zapier and automatically remove them when they cancel their subscription as well.

🚨 Please note:

  • Bi-weekly recurring payments are not available at this time. In addition, we don't currently support the ability to set a specific billing date (i.e. if you want your customers to be charged the 1st of every month).
  • If you cancel your Stan account, you'll need to manually cancel your customers' membership subscriptions or they'll continue to get charged.
  • This is not a Payment Plan feature as your customer will have the option to cancellation their membership at any time. If you want to learn about our Payment Plans feature, go to this article.
