How Do Affiliates Get Paid?
Affiliate accounts may be connected to Stripe Standard, Stripe Custom, or PayPal. Where you manage and track payouts depends on the payment processor connected to your account. 💰

How do Affiliate Only accounts connect to payment processors?
When an Affiliate creates their Affiliate Only account, they'll be able to connect their Stripe Account or PayPal Business Account by going to Settings > Payments:
If an Affiliate already has a Stripe account on another platform, they may need to cash out their Affiliate commission externally from their Stripe dashboard instead of through Stan’s Income tab.
📣 Heads up!
If you have Stripe Standard: Sign in to your external Stripe Dashboard to view your balance and payout activity. Settings > Payments in Stan is where you connect or manage the payment account; it is not the payout-activity screen.
If you have Stripe Custom: You cannot sign in directly at Stripe.com or through the Stripe app. View earnings, cash-out availability, and payout information from the Income tab in Stan. Use Settings > Payments only to manage the connection and banking details.
If you have PayPal: View settlement and payout information in the connected PayPal Business account.
What is the timeline for Affiliate Payouts?
Both the original Creator and Affiliate will be able to cash out after a 7-business-day holding period. This period allows the Creator to issue any necessary refunds before funds are cashed out by either party.
After 7 business days, the funds will be released to your account, at which point they will settle in either Stripe or PayPal. This process can take anywhere from 12 hours to 5 business days, depending on your location! Overall, Affiliate funds can take up to 12 days to become available for cash out.
If you recently connected a Stripe Custom account, your earnings may not be available immediately. Affiliate commissions typically take 7–12 business days to process. A new Stripe Custom account’s first payout may also require Stripe’s one-time verification period.
When an Affiliate makes an Affiliate sale, they will receive an email about their commission earned, like this example below:
How do refunds work with the Affiliate Share feature?
Only the original owner of the Affiliate product is able to process refunds for an Affiliate sale.
Refund timing
- There is a 7-day refund window following the purchase.
- Within this window, the original Creator can issue a full refund through Stan.
- If a full refund is processed within the 7-day window, the Affiliate will not receive their commission.
After the 7-day window
- Once the 7-day affiliate processing window has passed, refunds can no longer be issued in full through Stan. At this point, affiliate funds have already settled.
- Any refund would need to be handled directly between the Creator and the customer using an alternative method outside of Stan.
📣 Heads up!
After the 7-day window, the Affiliate will keep their commission, and the original Creator will be responsible for issuing the refund in full outside of Stan.
Important Note: Affiliates should connect Stripe or Paypal accounts within 180 days of making an affiliate sale. If a payment processor is connected more than 180 days later, existing commission earnings may not automatically become available for cashout.
